This Level 1 course is suitable for beginners of all ages and is ideal for anyone who would like to either start a new hobby or learn a new skill that could even generate some income. This course is suitable for complete beginners so don’t worry if you have never worked with glass before!
During this course you will learn the basic theory and technical skills required for kiln formed glass fusing and slumping using Bullseye Art glass. You will learn how to cut glass safely (this is really not as scary as it seems at first), prepare slumping and draping moulds, how to use a kiln along with the basic firing cycles as well as cold working your fused glass art.
Each student can decide whether they would like to make jewellery, a plate, a bowl or a glass painting – or even all of the above! The costs for the glass used will be charged separately based on colour and weight choices. The glass pieces will be fired outside of the training hours and will take an average of 24 hours per firing cycle. Firing cycles will be charged at R200 per cycle for the UltraFurn ECO60 kiln with a maximum piece size of 40cm (L) x 40cm (W) x 20cm (H) and R250 per firing cycle for the large UltraFurn ECO170 kiln with space 100cm (L) x 50cm (W) x 20cm (H).
Friends and family are welcome to register as a group of up to a maximum of 4 people to ensure individual attention.
